Victoria Christmas Ghost Storytime- For Adults & Older Children
December 9 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Did you know that in England there was a tradition of telling ghost stories on Christmas Eve?
We’re going to recreate that experience for you as we transform the library into a Victorian parlour. Enjoy a spooky festive tale with our special guest reader Chris Dance. Meet members of the University of Victoria Crafting Communities and maybe try your hand at making a Victorian craft. This program is suitable for adults and older children. Everyone welcome. No registration required. Victorian era costumes welcome!
Crafting Communities is an award-winning resource hub for makers and educators interested in nineteenth-century material culture. Their website includes how-to crafting tutorials for home and classroom use, an online exhibit of 26 nineteenth-century objects (from a broken Brontë hair bracelet to a policeman’s hat), and 24 podcast episodes about nineteenth-century things (featuring interviews with artists, curators, scholars, and librarians about books, beadwork, optical toys, and more!).
