The Foodie’s Weekend in Sidney

Here for the weekend? Oh, you lucky soul! Get ready to indulge your palate! We have everything to tempt you, including fine dining, pubs, cafes, international cuisine, bakeries, breweries, and bounty from land and sea.

Now then, to kick things off, what do you fancy? If you long for a sampling of bounty that’s locally grown, brewed, or fresh out of the sea; restaurants like Sea Glass Waterfront Grill, Deep Cove Chalet, The Surly Mermaid, and The Pier by 10 Acres Farm offer menus rich with ingredients sourced right here on the Peninsula. In fact, most restaurants, pubs and cafes in town have at least something local on the menu.

For breakfast and lunch, choose from local favourites like The Five and Dime Diner, 3rd Street Cafe and The Fickle Fig; or head to any one of our cafes, which are located all over town. There, you can find delicious sandwiches, drinks, and something sweet to take with you on your adventures.

When the sun sets towards evening and you fancy a cocktail, The Empress 1908 Gin by Victoria Distillers is a regular feature on drink menus around town. If you’re more of a beer fan, Howl Brewing concocts high-quality beers in small batches, with fascinating palate pleasers that range from traditional to seasonal styles, and even some historical recipes brought back from the brink of extinction! Select a flight and be prepared for a flavourful adventure.

Wine and cheese lovers can pair the two at The Farmer’s Daughter fromagerie, bistro and wine bar, where they stock farmhouse and artisan cheeses from around the world. Follow their expertly paired wine and cheese flights, or sample cured meats and other charcuterie. The Surly Mermaid also serves delicious charcuterie boards, featuring select cheeses from The Farmer’s Daughter.
