Christmas by the Sea
This holiday season, Sidney will be a twinkling wonderland as it welcomes the community to celebrate with an assortment of family-friendly activities! Enjoy enchanting decorative lights throughout the Town, festive displays, horse-drawn carriage rides, a live brass band on weekends, and much more.
Festive Displays | November 18 – January 6
Light Up Downtown Sidney
Sidney will be transformed into a twinkling wonderland as it welcomes the community to celebrate the holiday season with festive displays all throughout the town! The Sidney BIA has organized a professional contractor to install Christmas lights on business storefronts in downtown Sidney, in addition to a dazzling display of holiday-themed features around town by local merchants, the Town staff, and Sidney BIA.
Winter Wonderland Alley in Garden Court | November 18 – Mid-January
Carrying on the holiday magic from Candy Cane Lane, Garden Court will transform into a Winter Wonderland that guests can walk through and feel transported to a snowy oasis. Snowflakes will hang beneath a ceiling of white orbs, giving the guests the feeling of walking through the snow.
Lighted Window Tour
More than 50 businesses throughout downtown Sidney have dressed up their windows and storefronts with holiday decorations. Grab a loved one, pick up some hot cocoa, and wander through the streets of Sidney to soak in all of the festive displays downtown Sidney has to offer! Install in mid-November and take down in mid-January.
Sidney’s Annual Holiday Open House
Sidney will be open late to celebrate our official kick-off to Christmas on November 25 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Experience unique shopping at your favourite downtown Sidney shops. Discover the magic of a small-town Christmas by the Sea with free horse-drawn carriage rides, live music, complimentary hot cocoa, and more!
Community Christmas Tree | November 25 – December 31
Calling all artists and creatives! Help us decorate Sidney’s Community Christmas Tree by picking up Christmas ornaments from the Sidney Information Centre at 2281 Beacon Avenue between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, adding your own creative touch, and adding them to the Community Christmas Tree located between Sabhai Thai and Barbara’s Boutique (2493 Beacon Ave) Ornaments are free of charge! A big thank you to our sponsor, the Kiwanis Club of Sidney and Saanich Peninsula.
Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt | November 25 – January 6

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides | November 27 – December 19
Victoria Carriage Tours will offer festive rides through downtown Sidney on Saturdays and Sundays, November 26 to December 18, 12 PM – 4 PM. Tours are $50.00 per carriage and seat up to 6-people. Click here to purchase your tickets!
The Festive Brass | November 27 – December 18
The Festive Brass ensemble—also favourites at The Butchart Gardens during the holidays—will serenade shoppers every Saturday, from November 26 to December 24, 11 AM – 1 PM outside of Sabhai Thai (2493 Beacon Avenue).
Festive Concerts at the Mary Winspear Centre

Photos with Santa
Hosted by Peninsula Celebrations Society, join Santa on December 18 from 12 pm to 2 pm in Sidney’s Winter Wonderland at Garden Court (2360 Beacon Avenue) for free photos, treats, and hot chocolate! Don’t forget to bring your own camera.
Sidney Sparkles Christmas Parade
A brightly lit and colourful small-town holiday parade winds through Sidney’s downtown core, featuring floats, marching bands, and Santa Claus himself. Sunday, December 4 at 5 pm
Give Back to the Community
The Backpack Project
The Backpack Project is a local initiative that provides necessities and comfort items to community members who are experiencing homelessness. The backpacks will be shared at regional women’s and community shelters on Christmas Day. Stop by Town Hall (2440 Sidney Avenue) before December 16 to donate new or very gently used sleeping bags, blankets, hoodies, and winter outwear. Toiletry items, gift cards, and ready-to-eat non-perishable food items are also appreciated.
